<< FIRST 7 MINUTES >>
There is a tremendous feeling of significance when a community comes together to save lives.
Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel national EMS organization, has years of experience in treating wounded and managing multiple casualty incidents (MCI). Therefore, we feel that it is our obligation to share this knowledge and experiences worldwide.
The "First 7 Minutes" is a unique seminar designed by Magen David Adom to enrich the greater worldwide community’s knowledge of MCIs, and contribute to saving lives everywhere. The seminar capitalizes on basic steps which any person can take to save lives. Doing so empowers the community and enables them to save lives when needed.
The "First 7 Minutes" is a seminar offered by MDA’s most experienced Paramedics and Instructors based not only on the organization’s experience, but on their own personal experience with such incidents. The seminar is comprised of both a theoretical seminar and followed by a drill.
The seminar component has 2 parts:
-
General lecture to identify an MCI, call for help and initiate basic care.
-
Participants are divided into groups based on their professions and experience in emergency response.
The first group is composed of participants with no prior experience or training in medical emergencies. This part focuses on "stopping the bleeding" and how to classify urgent and non-urgent wounded.
Second group is composed of participants with medical and/or security backgrounds. This part focuses on assuming command of the scene until emergency responders arrive.
The seminar closes with a joint drill, in which the groups work together for a series of smaller drills lasting 7-8 minutes each, and uniquely designed to prepare community members to be ready and able to help in case of an emergency.
